Unusual spaces
to discover

These treasure hunts take you around Fontdouce Abbey, a medieval building nestling in the heart of the Fontdouce valley.

Fontdouce Abbey has changed considerably over time, with successive destructions and reconstructions. Today, it is a harmonious whole, made up of a series of buildings from different eras, making it an unusual and at times almost labyrinthine space. Walking through the rooms and gardens, visitors are invited to lose themselves, guided by the sound of the gentle fountain that flows peacefully beneath the site, occasionally surfacing in different places.

Having fun while learning

By taking one of these treasure hunts, you can plunge into the medieval origins of a religious complex that has been battered by the ups and downs of history, and which has been brought back to life over the last few decades thanks to the hard work of a family of enthusiasts. Through the various rooms, you can discover the specific features of both Gothic and Romanesque architecture, and understand how a modest monastery became, over time, a large-scale royal abbey and then a farm. So don’t wait any longer, come and discover the secrets of the Abbey and enjoy the various treasure hunts on offer.

No, because the investigation is self-guided, but the team at Fontdouce Abbey will be happy to answer any questions you may have and can give you a helping hand if you get stuck during the treasure hunt!

Treasure hunts can be organised for groups of up to 50 people in the same time slot, although it’s best to book as soon as the group exceeds 10 people. For larger groups, the treasure hunt can be organised as a competition.

It is advisable to book directly with Fontdouce Abbey at contact@fontdouce.com or by calling 05 46 74 77 08; once there, go to the Fontdouce Abbey reception desk. Tickets are sold directly on site, but can also be purchased online from the Parc Aventure de Fontdouce website as part of a Jeu de piste-Accrobranche pass. Please note that the opening times at Fontdouce Abbey may differ from those at the park.

It usually takes around 1 hour 30 minutes, except for Game of Stones which has no time limit, as long as you haven’t found all the NaÏos!

Yes, you have plenty of time to do the treasure hunt and the accrobranche in the same half-day. However, for a group of several dozen people (such as a school, for example), it’s better to take the whole day to do it all.
