What is tree climbing?

Positioned high up, courses allow you to move from tree to tree. They are generally positioned at different heights, which allows for different levels of difficulty. The highest courses are the most difficult, while those installed lower down are the easiest. Each course consists of different stages to complete, requiring varying degrees of physical strength depending on the course.

7 practical tips for letting go in tree climbing

Proper breathing

Before starting the activity, it is important to take a deep breath and relax. This will help you calm down, focus on the present moment, and reduce your stress. You will feel more in control of the situation.

Confidence in the equipment

One of the keys to letting go is trusting the equipment. Tree climbing courses are designed to be safe. There is no risk of falling, as harnesses, carabiners and other safety devices are there to protect you. Throughout the course, you are attached to a lifeline, so there is no possibility of becoming unhooked and falling. The equipment and courses are checked daily to ensure maximum safety.

Unwavering concentration

It is important to clear your mind of anxious and stressful thoughts in order to focus on the present moment. The goal is to be fully present in the experience! To feel your body moving from workshop to workshop and your muscles contracting as you tackle the challenging high ropes courses.

Follow your own pace

You’re not competing, so take your time. There’s no point in rushing, otherwise you won’t enjoy the tree climbing! Go at your own pace and familiarise yourself with each obstacle. This will give you the opportunity to let go of any pressure and listen to your body. You have a privileged spot high up in the trees, so it’s also the perfect opportunity to observe the nature around you, the greenery and the animals that surround you.

Close observation

Visualise the journey ahead in a positive light. Before embarking on a new challenge, take a moment to visualise the entire journey, right up to the final workshop. Observing others successfully completing the journey will undoubtedly boost your confidence.

Accept your fears

Don’t ignore your fears, acknowledge them. The more you accept them, the easier it will be for you to overcome them. It’s normal to feel dizzy, for example. There’s nothing natural about being several metres up in a tree, and yet you’re doing it and you’re doing very well! Once you have accepted your fears, follow these tips to never be afraid of heights again!

Ask for advice

You may find yourself stuck and unable to continue. In this case, do not hesitate to ask for assistance. Qualified staff are on hand to advise you and show you the techniques you need to complete more complex workshops. If you get too stuck, our team is also trained to come and collect you from your course. There’s no shame in asking for a helping hand!

Letting go while tree climbing will give you an enriching and liberating experience. So follow these tips and join us at Fontdouce Adventure Park for an exceptional experience and unforgettable memories!
