Tree climbing for younger children

Physical activity has a huge influence on children’s development and growth. It increases their dexterity, motor skills, sensory awareness and even their mood! Trying out different sports is essential if we want to boost our children’s creativity. Tree climbing also helps children develop their awareness of nature.

The benefits of tree climbing for young children

As they grow up, children need to let off steam: jumping, running, climbing, throwing, catching… Tree climbing courses allow them to exercise while having fun and, above all, without even realising it. When they are young, this activity helps them learn to coordinate their movements by controlling their bodies, developing their motor skills and balance while remaining flexible.

From a psychological point of view, tree climbing gives children the opportunity to manage their fatigue, control their emotions and increase their courage by facing their fears. In addition, this activity allows children to develop their imagination, creativity and independence by, for example, guiding the continuous lifeline ring in the best possible way to continue the course. It is also a good way to increase children’s sensitivity to nature, as trees are no longer just giant trunks but companions they can rely on when they feel afraid.

Gaining confidence

The first few times, children will not feel comfortable with the idea of being suspended in the air by a cable! Gradually, their fear will be replaced by confidence as they progress through the courses. Little by little, children will find their feet and understand that they are safe on the courses. Seeing other children having fun and enjoying themselves may encourage them to take the plunge. Be careful not to rush a child who is afraid. Even putting on the harness can be a very daunting experience for younger children. Our little tip: before buying a ticket for your little one, take a walk through the forest. Take them to the courses for young children and show them the other children enjoying themselves with complete confidence. They will identify with them and be curious to try the tree climbing course for themselves.

A moment of sharing

Tree climbing remains, above all, a great way to bond with your child and share moments of togetherness while enjoying outdoor sports. It is also a time of shared discovery between you and your child, the ideal opportunity to introduce them to the forest in a fun way. What child has never dreamed of being Tarzan, climbing trees and swinging from vine to vine? Whether you’re on holiday or live near a park, tree climbing has many benefits for young children.
